Your home may be your most valuable financial asset. That’s why it’s important to be cautious when you hire someone to improve it. Your best bet is a reality check from those in the know: friends, neighbors, or co-workers who have had improvement work done recently. Be sure to get written estimates, ask for explanations for price variations and don’t automatically choose the lowest bidder.

Last month I ran into an old friend of mine in the gym. We had not seen each other in a few months and I asked him how he was doing. He responded “Life Sucks “and this caught me off guard. I mean here is a guy in good shape, a great home, three fantastic children and a beautiful wife. What could cause him to have such a negative response? He too is in the construction industry and had allowed the outside world and the negative media to penetrate into his soul. It was a wake up call for me that sometimes we can lose site of the good things in life.
